Spring has sprung, and the first rays of sunlight are carrying an energy boost with them. But the NordPass team wasn’t lured to slow down in the winter, and we’ve kicked off 2025 with a determination to achieve great things and raise the bar for ourselves. Let’s take a look at what we’ve been up to during the first quarter of 2025.
Media and collaborations
One of our goals is to make knowledge about cybersecurity easy to access and understand. We aim to achieve this by sharing our expertise with our community. Here are some memorable moments from the first quarter that allowed our cybersecurity expertise to shine.
Cybersecurity trends in 2025
In the world of cybersecurity, you can’t stay static even for a minute. Cybercriminals know this just as well as we do. So, what threats are lurking ahead, and what should businesses stay cautious of?
:format(avif))
We asked some of the NordPass experts for their takes on what to expect in the world of cybersecurity in 2025, and the answers were truly intriguing. From password managers empowering people to manage their digital anxiety, to passkeys gaining more prominence; from politics reshaping our understanding of cybersecurity, to AI emerging as a catalyst for scams—one thing is certain: staying ahead of the curve will be crucial.
Research and insights from Prof. Dr. Kipker
Government institutions are often a prime target for cybercriminals. They’re frequently struck by ransomware attacks, disrupting public services and impacting millions of residents. Prof. Dr. Dennis-Kenji Kipker of cyberintelligence.institute and NordPass joined forces to examine the phenomenon of cyberattacks on German municipalities. The research covered the causes behind them, the IT infrastructure gaps that create opportunities for attacks, and strategies that municipalities can use to protect themselves from cybercriminals.

Prof. Kipker is a Professor of IT Security Law at the University of Applied Sciences Bremen and the Scientific Director of the cyberintelligence.institute in Frankfurt. As a researcher of international IT law, Prof. Kipker also spoke to us about the IT regulatory landscape in 2025 and provided some tips on how businesses can prepare for the compliance policies coming into effect this year.
An insider look into a phishing attack
When it comes to online scams, you can easily find tips and tricks on how to spot and avoid them. But have you ever wondered what a phishing attack looks like in practice, from concept to execution? Nord Security’s advisor, Adrianus Warmenhoven has shown us the behind-the-scenes of executing a phishing attack.
:format(avif))
As phishing schemes grow in scale and sophistication, and AI-powered tools increase their obscurity, it’s more important than ever to learn how to protect your business from falling prey. After all, it takes as little as a minute to fall for a scam and nearly a year to resolve its damage. Warmenhoven explained how hackers create phishing websites and what strategies they use to target users and obtain access to their sensitive data.
Top-rated by PCMag
We are honored each time our efforts to create the best password manager are recognized by industry professionals. That’s why we’re happy to announce that we’re still holding our strong position as PCMag’s Editors’ Choice for the Best Premium Password Manager in 2025.
NordPass was lauded for its customer-friendly sharing options, password strength management tools, and additional security features like the Data Breach Scanner and Email Masking. We’re determined to uphold this high standard and continue making our password manager even bigger and better.

In the news
AI is a huge topic right now, and we’re keeping our eyes firmly on how it impacts cybersecurity. Speaking to Forbes, our Head of Engineering, Ignas Valancius, shared his insights into ways that AI can be utilized to crack passwords faster than before and even brute force stronger passwords. Meanwhile, our Head of Business and Development, Karolis Arbaciauskas, has made several TV appearances discussing password hygiene and how users can develop better account management habits.

What’s new with NordPass
That’s enough talk for now; let’s see what we’ve been tinkering with. Our team has been keeping busy developing new features and improving your old favorites.
Introducing granular policy controls
Establishing robust yet flexible security practices in an organization can be a tricky process. Enforcing globally applied policies isn’t ideal, as it exposes unprivileged users to features that they should not be authorized to access and opens up the organization to unwanted security risks.
:format(avif))
To meet business security needs, NordPass has introduced granular policy controls to company-wide settings. From now on, organizations can set up and enforce their policies with more granularity, raising the bar for overall security and adding flexibility to user management. You can adjust the requirements of features like Password Policy, Email Masking, autolock, and MFA to apply to the whole organization, specific member roles, or each member individually.
Folders have grown bigger
Efficiently managing and sharing credentials in bulk can be challenging—the more teammates you have, the more you need to share. To alleviate this, we’ve expanded the limits of Folders and Shared Folders.
From now on, NordPass will allow you to move up to 150 credentials into a single regular Folder or Shared Folder in bulk. This helps employees collaborate more efficiently without compromising security while sorting credentials, sharing accounts, or accidentally granting access to sensitive data.
Easier access to NordPass on iOS
Logging in to apps and websites on your phone can be a hassle sometimes. So, we’re simplifying the way you access credentials on your iPhone. Whenever you encounter a login screen, you can simply tap the key icon above your keyboard or long-press the input field to view, copy, and edit your password details or save an additional web address to your credentials. NordPass will recognize that you have a password saved for this account and autofill it for you.

Broadened support for Windows
A quick hello to our Windows desktop app users! The long-awaited biometric login support using TPM 2.0 and Windows Hello is finally here. This update lets you enjoy a seamless login experience and makes accessing your passwords faster, easier, and more secure than ever. From now on, you can simply physically bind your biometric key to your Windows device and use biometrics or a PIN to log in to NordPass instead of the Master Password.
Activity Log improvements
NordPass’ Activity Log is beloved by organization Admins and Owners. Compatible with API integrations, it helps them easily observe all member activity across the organization and gather these records for compliance and auditing procedures. To help businesses on their compliance journeys, we’re introducing new types of activity they can track using Activity Log, including Group Provisioning, payment method changes, recurring payments, Master Password and Recovery Code changes, and more.

For your convenience
Sometimes, a small change can go a long way. We’re always listening to your feedback and looking into ways to improve your daily experience with NordPass.
Sharing Hub filters
The Sharing Hub is a space that lets organization Owners see the status of shared items within the organization. We’ve received some comments from our customers on how we can make this information easier to navigate and manage, and that’s what we’ve put our effort into.
With the new changes, you can now sort members based on their activity status and see who’s active, inactive, or added from outside the organization. This will let organization Owners easily identify inactive members and seamlessly transfer credential ownership to active employees.

Settings improvements
We are always tinkering with big and small ways to make your experience with NordPass simpler and more pleasant. This time, we wanted to give some love to the Admin Panel by improving the way you access different company settings. We’ve made it easier for you to discover the settings for Policies, Provisioning, Login Methods, Admin Panel, and Integrations. Just select the “Settings” tab in the Admin Panel sidebar to see the full list of controls.
