Activision forgot password

Activision is home to some of the best-known game franchises in the world, from Call of Duty to Crash Bandicoot. Setting up an Activision account and linking it to other services like Xbox, PlayStation, or Steam makes it easier to access the games you love and can even offer exclusive perks and rewards. Today, we’ll cover the action steps if you’ve forgotten your Activision password or have lost access to your account. You’ll learn how to reset or change your Activision password and what additional features help reinforce your account security.

How to reset your Activision password

If you’ve forgotten your Activision password and need to reset it, the process is pretty straightforward. Activision only requires you to know your linked email address.

If you already have a Blizzard account and create an Activision account with the same email address, your Blizzard ID will be automatically connected. To reset your Blizzard account password, please visit our dedicated guide.

  1. Open the Activision login page and select “Forgot your password?”

  2. Enter the email address you used to create your Activision account and click “Submit.”

  3. A password reset code will be sent to your inbox. Open the email and click “Reset your password.”

  4. You will be redirected to the password reset page. Enter your new password—you can use a password generator to create it. Activision requires a password to be 8–30 characters long, include at least one letter and one number, and use varied, non-sequential characters (e.g., avoiding "123" or "aaa"). Click “Save” to confirm the Activision password reset.

  5. That’s it! You can now use your new credentials to log in to your account.

If you believe that your account was hacked, you can contact Activision directly and request a recovery. Visit the dedicated Activision support page, select the reason why you believe your account was hacked, and submit an official recovery request.

How to change your Activision password

If you suspect your account has been breached but you still have access to the account, or if you simply want to update your Activision password, here’s where you can find the settings.

Make sure you don’t lose access to your old password before the final step, as you will need it to confirm the change.

  1. Go to the Activision website and click “Profile” at the top right corner of the browser.

  2. In the sidebar menu, select “Privacy & security” or “Basic info.” Both categories will redirect you to the same password update procedure.

  3. In either category, select “Edit” next to the password field.

  4. For security purposes, you may be prompted to verify your account. Select “Send code” and submit the code you receive in your email inbox.

  5. After the verification process, you will be redirected to the main “Profile” page. Repeat steps 2 and 3.

  6. You can now enter your new password. Use a password generator to create a password that meets Activision’s security requirements. Select “Save.”

  7. Enter your old password to verify the password change, and click “Submit.”

How to enhance your Activision account’s security

Using a strong and unique password is a great first step to securing your Activision account, but you can take it a step further. Here are some tips and tricks that Activision suggests to protect your account from unauthorized access.

First, you can set up two-factor authentication (2FA) for your Activision account. This way, you can use an authenticator app to verify your login attempts each time you want to access your account. When you add 2FA to your Activision account, you also receive 10 backup codes, which you can use in case you can’t access your authenticator app. Make sure to keep these codes stored securely in a location only you know.

Avoid reusing the same password you’ve set for other accounts, and don’t share your login credentials with other users, even if you trust them. In addition to opening your account to potential breaches, some Activision games also consider account sharing to be a form of cheating and a bannable offense.

If you want to buy cosmetics or claim extra digital content for your games, make sure you only use official vendors. Do not connect your account to suspicious or unauthorized websites, as they may violate Activision’s Terms of Service at best and be phishing attempts to overtake your account at worst.

Finally, Activision recommends you connect one of the external platform accounts to your Activision account. As Activision games are available on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Steam, and Blizzard, you likely already have an account for one of these platforms. By connecting them to your Activision account, you can simplify the login process and use it as an alternative access method if you forget your Activision password.
