After expanding to more than 40 countries in 2022, Disney Plus has quickly skyrocketed to become one of the biggest online streaming platforms in the world. With many users juggling several streaming accounts like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu at once or rotating their subscriptions from month to month, some might run into the issue of forgetting their login credentials. That’s why knowing how to change or reset your Disney+ password can come in handy.

With Disney’s crackdown of shared streaming account passwords looming in the near future, keeping your password secure is even more important – after all, you don’t want someone hijacking your account halfway across the world. So in addition to resetting and changing your credentials, we’ll see how you can keep your Disney+ account safe from unwanted co-watchers.

How to change your Disney+ password

The process of changing your password on Disney Plus is pretty straightforward:

  1. Log in to your Disney+ account on DisneyPlus.com or on the mobile app.

  2. Tap your profile icon at the top right corner of the screen and select “Account.”

  3. Find the “Password” section under your “Account details.”

  4. Select “Change password” or click on the pencil icon.

  5. You’ll see a screen prompting to enter a six-digit one-time code. Check your email inbox for an email with the subject “Your one-time passcode,” open it, and copy the code.

  6. Input the verification code and click “Continue.”

  7. Create your new password. The password must be at least six characters long and contain at least one number or a special character.

  8. Optional: You can tick the box to be logged out of all devices.

  9. Select “Save.”

  10. That’s it – your new Disney+ password is all set. Now you can use it to log back into devices that you use for Disney+ streaming.

How to reset your Disney+ password

If you’ve forgotten your Disney+ password, don’t worry – the process of resetting it is pretty similar to changing the password.

  1. Select “Log in” on the DisneyPlus.com website or the mobile app.

  2. Input your email address and click “Continue.”

  3. Select “Forgot password?”

  4. You’ll be prompted with a screen asking you to enter a six-digit one-time code. You’ll receive an email with the subject “Your one-time passcode.” Open the email and copy the code.

  5. Input the verification code and click “Continue.”

  6. Enter your new password. It has to be at least six characters long and contain at least one number or a special character.

  7. Select “Save.”

  8. That’s it – your old Disney+ password has been reset. Make sure to use the new one to log in to your streaming devices.

How to keep your Disney+ account secure

Did you know that your Disney+ account can be used to stream on a few other platforms as well? US-based users can connect their Hulu and ESPN accounts to Disney Plus for a streaming bundle. Whether you’re using all three services or you’re in a region where only Disney+ is available, account security isn’t something to overlook.

Disney Plus only requires users to have a six-character password at the minimum, which isn’t very long. Furthermore, it has to have at least one character that’s either a number or a special character. Overall, the password requirements will probably lead many users to coming up with shorter, simpler, and consequently weaker passwords that are easier to remember. That’s not an unusual occurrence. In fact, according to NordPass’ annual top 200 most common passwords list, the most frequently used weak password in the world contains exactly six digits – it’s “123456.”

What can you do to make sure that your password won’t end up in the wrong hands? You can get creative here. For example, you can use abbreviations to create phrases – like your very own version of pig Latin. Playing around with film quotes to create acronyms, including spaces and numbers, can be effective. That said, the best strategy to save yourself a headache is using a password generator. This tool can generate unique passwords containing as many or as few characters as you need, including lowercase and uppercase letters, numbers, and special characters. The longer and more complex the password, the more difficult it’ll be to crack.
