Generate random username
Try a username generator and design your secure login credentials.
Why use username generator
Your username is your personal data, and a poorly chosen one can link back to you or even reveal your identity. How? Hackers can use the same tools marketers do and cross-reference your usernames over multiple platforms. That can help them create your online profile and lead to your social media accounts. However, you can protect yourself. The trick is to use a random username generator and never reuse the same name on multiple accounts.
Frequently asked questions
Using the NordPass username generator is very easy. First, select the number of characters for your username with the Username length slider. Then, you have three options:
- By simply clicking on the orange Generate button, you’ll get a selection of randomly-generated usernames to choose from.
- If you prefer a distinct identity online, you can enter a specific keyword before hitting Generate. It will be incorporated into all usernames created by our program.
- Finally, you can select Random characters in the Advanced options. This will create completely random names, making it harder to link your account to others.
Click a username on the list to check if it's available on Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Reddit, Pinterest, or Vimeo. Then, click Copy next to your desired username to add it to your clipboard, and you’re done!
A secure username does not link you to other accounts or social media. While it’s popular to have similar usernames across multiple platforms, creating a personal brand of sorts, this can lead to others uncovering your identity or even impersonating you online. It is very important that your username does not contain any personal information, like your name, birth year, or location.
Unlike your password, you don’t need to regularly change the username of any given account — in fact, most platforms won’t even let you without contacting customer support. However, for maximum security, you should always create distinct usernames for new accounts.
You leetify text by replacing standard letters with special symbols or numbers. Leetified usernames are harder for bots to link to other accounts. They also let you pick similar-looking names if your desired one is taken.
You can easily leetify usernames created with the NordPass username generator by selecting Leetify characters in Advanced options. If you’d rather do it yourself, simply replace letters with similar symbols — for example, use “@” or “0” for “o,” “1” for “i,” “5” for “S,” and so on.
