Grant secure access to sensitive data with ease. Whether it’s for temporary collaboration or everyday use, NordPass offers controlled, encrypted sharing that keeps your information protected.
What is Secure Sharing?
It's a way to keep your accounts secure while staying connected. NordPass makes it easy to share passwords, credit card details, and other sensitive data safely – whether it’s with a colleague or a friend. Need to share multiple items? Shared Folders makes organizing and sharing access effortless. All shared data is end-to-end (E2E) encrypted.
Overview of password sharing in NordPass
Easily share items with just a few clicks. Choose what you want to share from your encrypted NordPass vault, set access permissions, and send it to the recipient. Once they accept, the item is available in their vault – securely, seamlessly, and never through unsafe channels.
Permission granularity
It’s secure sharing – on your terms. With NordPass, you decide exactly how others interact with your shared items by setting distinct permissions. Choose to allow viewing, editing, autofilling, or even sharing access further – each as a separate, customizable option.
Time-Limited Sharing
Easily share sensitive items with temporary workers, contractors, or collaborators using Time-Limited Sharing. Grant access for a set duration, after which access is automatically revoked, ensuring your data remains secure and is shared only for as long as intended.

Frequently asked questions
Whether it’s with your colleague, coursemate, or family member, sharing credentials is often inevitable. But sharing your passwords via email or text is dangerous. Third parties can easily intercept them, especially if you’re using a vulnerable service. By using NordPass, you’re ensuring that your sensitive data remains safe while you’re sending it to others.
When it comes to sharing items, NordPass gives you much more flexibility than most. Depending on the context and sensitivity of what you are sharing, you can choose any of the following 4 access permissions:
Can edit status allows the user to autofill, view, share, and update the item as needed.
Can share status allows the user to autofill, view, and share as needed.
Can view status allows the user to either autofill or view the item.
Can autofill status means the user can only autofill the item, nothing more.
Note: By default, all items are shared with Can autofill access status. But if multiple permissions apply (direct or group sharing), the highest permission level takes precedence.
If you have shared an item with another NordPass user, you can choose to make that user your item’s Owner. Once granted, the Owner rights allow not only to view, edit, and share the item, but also to revoke access from other users the item has been shared with. It’s also important to note that once you transfer ownership of an item to another person, your Owner status is transferred with it.
Never share any sensitive information that could be used to identify you unless you’re absolutely certain the way you are sharing it is secure. Things like your Social Security number, driver's license, or passport details can be used by hackers to impersonate you online, often leading to identity theft, financial fraud, or worse. You should also proceed with caution when sharing credentials with others, and always use tools that keep that information private.
