You’re enjoying a relaxing evening dozing off to one of your favorite shows on Netflix. Suddenly, the calm vibes are interrupted by a blaring notification: someone halfway across the world has logged in to your Netflix account. That’s strange. You don’t recall knowing anyone that far away, let alone sharing a streaming account with them. Looks like your account has been breached, and it’s time to reset your Netflix password.
Or perhaps it’s not quite as dramatic, and you’ve simply forgotten your login details, need to disconnect a pesky cousin from your account, or just feel like the time has come for a new, stronger password. In this guide, you’ll learn how to easily change and reset your Netflix password.
How to change your Netflix password on desktop
The process of changing your Netflix password on the website is quick and straightforward, with the added benefit of disconnecting any devices that may be using your account without authorization.
Launch the Netflix website and log in to your account.
Once you’ve logged in, hover over your profile icon in the top right corner and select “Account.”
In the “Overview” section under “Quick links,” select “Update password.”
Enter your current password and your new password. Netflix requires the password to be at least 6 characters long and will warn you if it’s too common or not secure enough. You can use a password generator to create a strong, unique password for your Netflix account.
Before saving the new password, we recommend ticking the “Sign out of all devices” box.
Click “Save” to confirm the changes.
There you have it—you’ve changed your Netflix password. If you ticked the “Sign out of all devices” box, you’ll need to re-enter it on all devices your Netflix account is connected to.
How to change your Netflix password on mobile devices
Note: Netflix only allows Android users to change their password in-app. If you use an iOS device and want to change your Netflix password, please log in to Netflix on your mobile browser.

In the profile view, tap the hamburger button in the upper-right corner of the screen and select “Account.”
Tap “Change password.”
Now enter your current and new passwords. The new password must be at least 6 characters long. For security reasons, we recommend ticking the “Sign out of all devices” box.
Tap “Save” to confirm. The changes should take effect immediately. You can now log in to Netflix on any device with your new password.
How can you reset your Netflix password?
If you’ve logged out and forgotten your Netflix password, you can reset it using your email address or phone number. Here’s a quick guide on how to reset your Netflix password:
Open the Netflix login page and select “Forgot password?” below the sign-in options.
Select your preferred password reset method.
If you choose “Email,” enter your email address and click “Email me.” You will receive an email from Netflix with instructions on how to reset your password and create a new one.
If you choose the “Text message (SMS)” option, enter your phone number and select “Text me.” You will receive a text message from Netflix with instructions on how to reset your password and create a new one.
If you can’t remember which credentials you used to sign up for the service, don’t worry: all hope is not lost yet! Netflix offers an alternative method to restore access to your account using your billing information:
In the “Forgot password?” page, select “I don’t remember my email or phone” below the reset confirmation button.
Enter the first and last name used to create the account, as well as the credit or debit card number that’s used to pay for the subscription, and select “Find account.”
If Netflix finds matching information, you’ll receive a password reset email at the email address you used to create the account.
Follow the instructions in the email to reset your Netflix password and create a new one.
Please note that account reset using billing information is region-restricted and may not be available in your area.
