The summer is in full swing, which means Q2 is officially in the books. As every quarter, we’ve been working to strengthen your password security and make it easier to manage. So, without further ado, let’s get into it.
Product updates
First things first, we gave the NordPass vault a fresh look. We redesigned the navigation bar, updated the sidebar, and refined the extension pop-up to make moving through your vault items smoother.
We also reworked the search function. By default, the search is now global, meaning that when you type a keyword, you’ll find folders, Shared Folders, and any data stored inside items, not just their titles. If you’re viewing a specific category or folder, you can still perform a local search and expand it globally with one click. The new search dropdown also suggests recent searches and up to 5 relevant results as you type. These improvements are live on the desktop app and extension, with the browser extension pop-up defaulting to global search only.
And lastly, we’ve brought Subfolders to the NordPass iOS app.
Research: password hygiene habits
This quarter, we dug deeper into password hygiene habits. The research revealed a mixed picture: although overall password counts are declining as more people turn to SSOs through their Google or Apple accounts, data leak incidents now involve much larger data sets, including mishandled passwords. One of the core issues is that people are actively reusing their credentials. For instance, a NordPass survey found that half of German respondents reuse passwords, either out of convenience or because they assume the risk is overblown. And those who do try to vary their passwords often store them in insecure places, like note apps or browser-based password managers, which keeps the risk high.
Bottom line
That’s a wrap on Q2. We hope our research on password hygiene inspires you to rethink your habits, and that the navigation and search updates make your NordPass experience smoother. See you next quarter!
